MyToons Launches Animation Contest for Political Cartoons

MyToons today announced the launch of its latest artwork and animation contest, Red, White, and Who?

Focusing on the funny aspects of the political arena, Red, White, and Who? invites artists and animators worldwide to upload their political creations and share in a little positive reprieve from this year's election battlefield between Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin and Democrats Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

"Politics are a serious business and one that should be closely monitored and constantly questioned," says Paul Ford, president and co-founder of MyToons.

"Of course, there's no reason that we can't do what animators do best and have a little fun while we keep those politicians in check!

Indian animators on their way to creating original animation content

The Indian animators are creating original animation content that is being accepted internationally, said Uttam Pal Singh, an independent film maker who is producing tv commercials, broadcast designs, and internet series especially Channel [V], while addressing the students on the last day of the two-days animation event, Treasureboxx08 here today.

An NID graduate, Uttam Pal Singh did post graduation in animation in 2000 and his first film ‘Bheeru No.1’ brought many national and international awards, and later as a part of Channel [V] his ‘Santa Banta series’ won him many accolades, who shared his quest to produce funny stories and create original contents and intellectual properties for the international masses.

He talked about his journey in creation of various tv series including his latest production, ‘Krazy Keeda’ for Hungama Channel.

The BIG Animation team of Rohan Pannalkar and Rajesh Bhosale, talked about the making of the 3D animation film, Little Krishna, produced by the India Heritage Foundation, which won two BAF awards as Best TV Episode and for Outstanding Indian content, recently.

MyToons Launches Animation Contest

Online animation community MyToons.com today announced the launch of its latest contest for animators around the world. Get with the Times! is an HD animation competition that will send one Grand Prize winner to New York City to see their animation played on a Clear Channel billboard in Times Square while they dine at the world-renowned Chop Suey restaurant. Animators are invited to submit their HD creations at www.MyToons.com/contests/TimesSquare.

Animation contest attracts youths as young as 10 years old

SINGAPORE : A recent animation contest organised by IT company Brother International and the Media Development Authority of Singapore has produced winners as young as 10 years old.

The winning clip that clinched the top spot in the Primary and Secondary School Category was the work of one 10-year-old and two 11-year-olds.

"I feel very surprised and happy because we are only Primary school (students) but yet we are able to beat the secondary school students with our work in this competition," said 11-year-old Jowell Tan from Ai Tong School, winner in the Primary and Secondary School Category

SIGGRAPH 2008 Announces Return of FJORG! Animation Contest

FJORG!, the International Animation Contest, will return at the upcoming SIGGRAPH conference in 2008. FJORG! is an "iron animator" event in which 16 competing teams from around the world have 32 hours to create the most impressive character-driven animation of at least 15 seconds in length adhering to at least one of two themes and using at least one of 16 sound bites.

"Given the resounding success of FJORG! at SIGGRAPH 2007, it was an easy decision to host it again this year," stated Patricia Beckmann-Wells, SIGGRAPH 2008 FJORG! chair from Walt Disney Animation Studios. "This year we are expanding the submission process to welcome all animators -- professionals and students, with teams or without, in order to showcase the brightest and best the world has to offer."
